From Aomori, Japan, Yoshitomo Nara is an artist and photographer. Nara has had nearly 40 solo exhibitions since 1984. His artwork has been housed at the MoMA and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (LACMA). His most well-known and repeated subject is a young girl with piercing eyes.

Photographer Mie Morimoto worked with Nara for six months to document how he develops nuance and texture in his art, including his signature ''enfant terribles'' paintings and weeping dog sculptures. The book includes never-before-published excerpts from Nara's Journals and photographs documenting the work shown in his traveling exhibition ''I Don't Mind If You Forget Me.''
