Akira Kobayashi is a Japanese photographer who worked as a photographer for Magnum Photo’s photographer who also served as a chairman. He then worked as a photography assistant for Elliot Erwitt. Kobayashi continues to be active in fashion and advertising.

Smile Rock is a photo collection directed by Shigekazu Kuwahara, a music producer who has made a name for himself in a selection of songs by the Comme Des Garçons collection and in “Pithecanthropus Erectus”. This is a unique visual collection edited by Kobayashi around 70 years conveying the charm of “Rock” through photos centered around hippie culture, Venice’s scared place Venice Beach. Not only fascinated by the beautiful illustrations full of "love" and "freedom" with monochrome colors, but also "Smile Rock Record" selected by Yasuyo Konishi, Yukihiro Takahashi, Hysteric Glamor, An interesting book featuring unique advertisements from Hollywood Lunch Market and BEAMS.
